Autism & ADHD Testing and Evaluations

What do we test for?

At our practice, we specialize in psychological evaluations for Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and AuDHD-the term for autism and ADHD occurring together. Our focus is intentionally narrow because depth matters: by concentrating on these areas, we're able to bring expertise and focus to these specific areas. 
 

During an evaluation, we may notice signs of other conditions, such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, etc. When that happens, we'll share what we observe and offer provisional impressions or rule-outs (not diagnoses), so you leave with a clearer picture and a sense of where to turn next. A full assessment of those conditions, however, falls outside the purpose of this testing--just as we don't evaluate or diagnose learning disorders. In those cases, we're glad to point you toward providers who specialize in exactly what you need. 

What to expect during the testing process... 

Most evaluations involve three separate appointments, and the entire process typically takes four to six weeks from start to finish. 
 

It begins with a quick conversation. Reach out to our office, and we'll talk through what you're looking for to make sure we're the right fit. If we are, we'll send over the necessary paperwork to complete at your convenience--consent forms, questionnaires, and payment information. Once you've returned everything, we'll reach out to schedule your appointments. 
 

The first appointment is an interview with Dr. Hirt or Dr. Morrier. The second appointment is the in-person testing, which is the only appointment you'll need to attend in person. The third appointment is a follow-up. This is scheduled two to three weeks after your testing, where we'll walk you through the results, what the results mean to you, and answer any questions you may have. 

AUTISM EVALUATIONS

​You may benefit from an evaluation if you:

  • Need accommodations or to qualify for services

  • Seek clarity and understanding

  • Want to identify strengths and challenges

  • Seek diagnostic answers or confirmation

  • Want personalized recommendations for support or therapeutic options

Abbreviated Autism Testing

Possible Reasons to complete Abbreviated Version:

  • Want a confirmation of diagnosis, but do not need accommodations from school system or to qualify for government benefits (these require a full a evaluation)

  • Less expensive option

  • Less time to complete

  • Still provides detailed diagnostic information and recommendations, but is not as extensive as a full evaluation

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Evaluations

Determine if the individual meets criteria for ADHD based on the DSM-5-TR.

  • -Understand how ADHD symptoms impact daily functioning, including academic, occupational, social, and emotional domains.

  • Identify the subtype of ADHD (inattentive, hyperactive-impulsive, or combined).

  • Differentiate ADHD from other conditions (e.g., anxiety, depression, trauma, learning disorders, or autism) that may mimic or co-occur with ADHD.

  • Guide treatment planning, including behavioral strategies, educational supports, and/or medication.
